Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Protect against further contamination, provide fresh air.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse eyes with plenty of water. Consult physician if
necessary.
Emergency measure - Skin: Flush with water and soap. Consult physician if necessary.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Administer medical coal and give copious quantities of
liquids to drink but no milk and no alchoolic beverages.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Foam, water (mist), carbon dioxide, extinguishing powder
Product arising from burning: Toxic fumes (CO, CO2, NOx), gas (HCl)
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Gas mask with all purpose filter or self breathing.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear protective mask and gloves. Take up dry substance with
suitable instruments and put it into hermetically closed
containers. Do not use drawing tools which may cause sparks.
Wash away remains with plenty of water.
Handling and storage
Handling: The containers must be opened and handled with care avoiding
formation of dust and aerosol.
Keep containers away from sources of ignition and open fire.
Drums have to be closed after use.
The use of drawing tools which may cause sparks is to be
avoided.
Storage: The test substance should be stored in the original
container according to the local regulations.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: UN Package group (PG) III.
Cardboard drum with PET inner bag.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The product can be recristallized in water.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No data available; nor for unfavourable effects, neither for
possibility of neutralization.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration plant must be equipped to neutralize waste
gases containing HCl and NOx.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Neither the product nor the sewage should be allowed to get
into the waters without previous treatment.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Uncleaned containers should be handled like the contents.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is an intermediate in the synthesis of a
pharmaceutical. Hence, the substance will not enter the
public domain.
