First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Symptomatic treatment.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately irrigate with eyewash solution or cold water,

holding the eyelids apart for at least 10 minutes. Obtain

medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water, seek medical attention if irritation

develops.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Wash out mouth and seek medical attention. Symptomatic

treatment.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide are

suitable.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon,

nitrogen and sulfur together with some soot and hydrogen

chloride.

Protective equipment: Protective clothing and a self contained breathing apparatus

should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Sweep up and transfer to labelled waste containers for

disposal in accordance with local or national legislation.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the normal standards of good occupational hygiene to

avoid ingestion, inhalation, skin and eye contact. Handle in

a well ventilated area and if dust is generated, wear a

suitable respirator (type BS 6016).

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Discharge at an approved landfill site is possible.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Disposal by incineration above 950 deg C with waste gas

treatment to remove nitrogen and sulfur oxides as well as

hydrogen chloride is the recommended method.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance is not expected to be appreciably degraded in

aerobic treatment processes nor affect nitrification or

sewage digestion.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will only enter the public domain in the form

of dyed articles that can be disposed of as domestic waste.
