Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Eye contact:

Immediately wash eyes with plenty of running water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Seek medical advice if irritation develops and persists.

Skin contact:

Wash affected skin area with plenty of water and soap thoroughly while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Seek medical advice if irritation develops and persists.

Ingestion:

Seek medical advice if the victim feels unwell. Wash out mouth with plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Inhalation:

Remove the victim from exposure into fresh air immediately if adverse effects (e.g. dizziness, drowsiness or respiratory irritation) occur. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Seek medical advice if cough or other symptoms appear. Do not use mouth-to-mouth respiration. Seek medical advice immediately when vapors are intensively inhaled.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Foam, carbon dioxide and dry agent.

Do not use water.

Product arising from burning: Combustion products may contain carbon oxides.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: In the event of fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and a chemical protective suit.

Do not allow extinguishing media to reach ground water or sewage system. Contaminated extinguishing media has to be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

If area is heavily exposed to fire and if conditions permit, let fire burn itself out since extinguishing media may increase the area contaminated.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity. Extinguish sources of ignition. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including chemical protective clothing, gloves, eye protection and an organic vapour mask.

Environmental precautions:

Prevent the material from entering surface water or sanitary sewer system. Do not discharge directly to a water source. If accidental spillage or washings enter drains or watercourses contact local Environment Agency.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Absorb spillages with a suitable inert material (e.g. sand or soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste containers or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine. Containers filled with waste material should be labelled in the same way as the original RB68 containers. Clean the spillage area with water and detergent. Dispose of waste material in accordance with local regulations by landfill or incineration.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Technical recommendations:

Use with adequate ventilation. Use suitable protective equipment. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid creating dusty conditions and prevent wind dispersal. Use explosion-proof electrical (ventilating, lighting and material handling) equipment. Take measures against static discharge. Keep away from sources of ignition.

Technical measures/ Storage conditions:

Keep in the original container. Store at ambient temperature. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Keep product away from heat, sparks, flame and other sources of ignition.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls: Appropriate engineering measures should be taken to minimise exposure to the substance.

Environmental exposure controls: Prevent the material from entering surface water or sanitary sewer system. Do not discharge directly to a water source. If accidental spillage or washings enter drains or watercourses contact local Environment Agency.

Respiratory protection: Based upon current information and in the absence of occupational exposure limits the use of an organic vapour mask to a minimum standard of EN4O5 FF A1 is recommended.

Hand protection: Suitable material and thickness: nitrile rubber.

Eye protection: Use chemical safety goggles and/or full face shield where dusting is possible.

Skin and body protection: Protective suit, apron and boots

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: Not applicable.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions.

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues:

In accordance with local and national regulations. Disposed by landfill or incineration in a suitable incineration plant holding a permit delivered by the competent authorities. Do not allow material to contaminate ground water system. Do not contaminate surface water.

Container:

Containers should be cleaned by appropriate method and then re-used or disposed by landfill or incineration as appropriate, in accordance with local and national regulations. Do not remove label until container is thoroughly cleaned.
