Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove subject to area of fresh air and seek medical advice

if signs of discomfort.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediatley with a large volume of water for at least

15 minutes.  If signs of discomfort, seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with mild detergent or soap and water.  Seek medical

advice if signs of discomfort.  Wash contaminated clothing

before re-use.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Drink milk or water.  Do not induce vomiting, unless

directed by medical staff.  If signs of discomfort, seek

medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry foam, powder, water spray, carbon dioxide and other

extinguishing agents.  No adverse reactions with normal

agents is known.

Product arising from burning: Complete combustion will lead to carbon dioxide and nitrous

oxides.  Incomplete combustion or in a oxygen depleted

environment will lead to the formation of carbon/nitrogen

compounds including amines and organic acids.

In the presence of water, nitrous acids may be formed.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Standard equipment required, suitable for organic and

inorganic acids and amines.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect material while minimising the generation of dust

through the use of a damp mop or other cleaning equipment.

Place in a suitably labelled container and dispose as

chemical waste.

Minor spills may be rinsed with water, although discharge to

surface water should be avoided.

Personal protective equipment should be worn.

Handling and storage

Handling: Precautions during handling should include prevention dermal

contact or inhalation of dust.  This can be acheived through

gentle use to avoid the generation of dust and through the

use of PPE and extraction systems (LEV).

As with other organic powders, there is a potential risk of

dust explosion and equipment should be suitably earthed to

prevent static discharge.

Storage: Store dry under ambient conditions.  No special precautions

are required.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Packed in polythene lined fibre drums, typically 25 - 100 kg

total weight.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Avoid contact with strong oxidising and reducing agents.

Chemical reaction with water: No reaction.

Dust explosion: As with other organic powders, there is a potential for dust

explosion and in the absence of data to state otherwise, it

is recommended that suitable handling precautions are taken.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is consumed during use and cannot be recycled.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: There is insufficient data to know whether this is a

suitable method of disposal.  Discharge is not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is the recommended method of disposal.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: There is no evidence that the substance will be broken down

in WWTP and it is not recommended to discharge the

substance.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: No other methods recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable to the general public.
