Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No biodegradation data is available for substance. Data from Benzenesulphonic acid, 4-C10-13-sec-alkyl derivatives (LABS; CAS no: 85536-14-7) as structural analogue was used to understand the biodegradation profile of substance. Based on the biodegradation study of structural analogue, the substance considered to be readily biodegradable.

Additional information

Benzenesulphonic acid, dimethyl-,mono C14-16-alkyl derivative (H250 sulphonic acid) is a UVCB. Based on structural and functional similarities, data on Benzenesulphonic acid, 4-C10-13-sec-alkyl derivatives (LABS; CAS no: 85536-14-7) being registered under REACH, LABS Na (CAS no: 68411-30-3) being registered under REACH and LAB (CAS no: 67774-74-7) being registered under REACH are suitable as supporting study in case where specific data on the substance is lacking.

To assess the biodegradation profile of the substance, data from LABS was used as structural analogue substance. The biodegradation of LABS was determined in OECD DOC-Die away study. Biodegradation with the reference substance, sodium benzoate, at 11.8 mg DOC/L resulted in 96% degradation in 28 days. The substance was found to be degraded by 94% in 28 days. The substance is readily biodegradable.

Based on the biodegradation study of structural analogue, the substance considered to be readily biodegradable.
