Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic algae. No acute toxic effects occur within the range of solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity to aquatic algae was tested in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 201 (CIBA-GEIGY 1993g) using Scenedesmus subspicatus. Due to the low solubility of the test substance a supersaturated stock solution using an emulsifier (alkylphenol-polyglycolether) has been prepared. Calculated amounts of the stock solution to produce the desired test concentrations (nominal: 1.23, 3.7, 11, 33 and 100 mg/L) were given into the water and were homogeneously distributed. The test substance was homogeneously distributed in the test vessels at all test times and test concentrations except at test concentrations 11, 33 and 100 mg/L, where a deposit of test substance was observed after 72 hours exposure. However, no acute toxic effects have been observed within the range of solubility in any of the tested concentrations. Therefore, the EbC50 after 96 h is above 100 mg/L (nominal) and 74.5 mg/L (measured at the end of the test), respectively.
