First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Using appropriate personal protective equipment, move
exposed subject to fresh air. If breathing is difficult or
ceases, ensure and maintain ventilation. Give oxygen as
appropriate. The exposed subject should be kept warm and at
rest. Obtain medical attention in cases of known or possible
over exposure, or with symptoms including chest pain,
difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness or other adverse
effects, which may be delayed.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash immediately with clean and gently flowing water for at
least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Using appropriate personal protective equipment, remove
contaminated clothing and flush exposed area with plenty of
water. Seek medical attention if there is any adverse skin
reaction which may be immediate or delayed.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Never attempt to induce vomiting. Do not attempt to give any
solid or liquid by mouth if exposed subject is unconscious
or semi-conscious. Wash out the mouth with water. If the
exposed subject is fully conscious, give plenty of water to
drink. Obtain medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures

or carbon dioxide
Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: The substance is
combustible and will burn if involved in a fire. It gives
off noxious fumes (eg. carbon and nitrogen oxides and
fluorine-containing compounds).

Protective equipment: Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and a self-
contained breathing apparatus must be worn.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Personal Precautions: Fence or cordon the affected area and
do not allow individuals to touch or walk through the
spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective
clothing. Avoid dust generation.
Environmental Precautions: Prevent entry into waterways,
sewers, surface drainage systems and poorly ventilated
areas. If spill is outdoors, cover with plastic sheet to
minimise spreading or contact with rain.
Clean-up Methods: Collect and place it in a suitable,
properly labelled container for recovery or disposal.
Following removal of spillage, wash down spillage area with
copious amounts of water only if waste water can be directed
to an on-site waste treatment system.
Decontamination Procedures: No specific decontamination or
detoxification procedures have been identified for this
material. Consider use of water, detergent solutions, or
other soluble solvents for clean-up and decontamination
operations.
Avoid decontamination with oxidising agents such as
household bleach, which will release hazardous hydrochloric
acid vapours.
Handling and storage
Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used under
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in comformity with
local regulations in order to avoid exposure by swallowing,
inhaling dust and skin and eye contact.
Where exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to the
appropriate international or national standards should be
worn:
Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374
Chemical protective clothing to Standard EN368
Eye protection to Standard EN166.
Furthermore, where respiratory protective equipment has to
be used, it must be capable of adequately controlling
exposure, suitable for the purpose and be of a type
conforming to the appropriate European Standards. Air hood
to be to the standard of EN 270/EN 467. Air suit to be to
the standard of EN 270/EN 467. Air hood - disposable to be
to the standard of Plysu EN 270/EN 467. Half face
Respirator to be to the standard of EN 140. Powered
filtered air hood to be to the standard of EN 12941/EN 1835.
These measures should be regarded as a minimum.
Storage: Store in tightly closed containers away from moisture and
away from sources of ignition. Avoid prolonged storage at
elevated temperatures (greater tan room temperature, approx.
20°C).
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance will be packed in black conductive liners
(minimum strength: 400 gauge). It will then be sub-packed in
a maximum of 20 kg net weight per individual liner
(liner must be closed by means of a recognised tie wrap or
heat seal).
Sub packs (up to three per keg), will be packed within one
large liner inside the final packaging container.
Fibre kegs (U.N. certified and stamped or other acceptable
certification) with security band will be used for the
packaging of the subpacks of the material. The capacity of
the drum can be suitable for holding up to three packs. Each
keg will be sealed with an appropriate tamper evident seal
mechanism.
A bulk box type container can also be used if appropriate
for the packaging and agreed with the notifier.
For material delivered on pallets the size will be, 4 way
entry, 1200 mm x 1000 mm and in good condition.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will be used exclusively by industry and
confined to industrial operations that constitute
predominantly closed systems. Handling of the substance
will be by trained operators, and it will be kept to a
minimum.
Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from
minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically
or technically feasible, and such waste material will be
disposed of by incineration or landfill. In principle it
may be possible to recover larger spillages of
uncontaminated material for subsequent use, but the notifier
will not do this in practice.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The substance is harmful if swallowed and a severe eye
irritant. It also has irritant effects on the skin and
presumably is irritant to the respiratory tract. No
chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise these
hazardous properties.
The dust hazard will be minimized by appropriate handling
and storage eg. bonding and grounding.
The substance is classified with regards to the environment,
harmful to aquatic organisms and may cause long-term
adverse effects in the aquatic environment. Avoid release to
the environment and refer to special instructions/safety
data sheet.

under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
