Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
other: no oxidising properties
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
According to the lest results of the test item, the bursting disk didn 't rupture for three times
during the five trials, the mean pressure rise time from 690 kpa to 2070 kpa of the two times was
24. 11 s, far greater than the mean pressure rise time of reference substance 5.54 s, so the test item
was not to be considered as an oxidizer.
Executive summary:

The purpose of the study was to determine the potential for ultimate biodegradation of methylvinylbis(n-ethylacetamido)silane (Supplied as Dow Corning (R) 1-6008) in water. The test was conducted from May 7 to June 5, 2010. The mean cumulative net percent CO2 evolved (percent biodegradation) fro the aqueous medium fortified with methylvinylbis(n-ethylacetamido)silane at 10 mg C/L was 62.66% on Day 28. The toxicity control on Day 14 was 70.33% which indicates that the test substance was not toxic to the inoculum in the test medium. The cumulative net percent CO2 evolved from the sodium benzoate procedural control was 82.78% of theoretical by day 10, thus exceedin the "pass" criteria of the test (reaching 60% or greater CO2 evolution within a 10-day window of reaching 10% biodegradation). This rapid biodegradation of sodium benzoate confirmed the presence of an active microbial population and system integrity. Based on the rate of CO2 evolution during the study, methylvinylbis(n-ethylacetamido)silane can not be classified as "readily biodegradable" by the criteria above since it did not achieve 60% biodegradation within a 10-day sindow of reaching 10% biodegradation. However, methylvinylbis(n-ethylacetamido)silane was extensively mineralized to CO2 (i.e., 62.66% by Day 28) and therefore can be classified as "ultimately biodegradable".
