Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. Seek medical attention if

symptoms persist.

Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

Skin: Wash skin with soap and plenty of water. Seek medical

attention if symptoms persist.

Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention if

symptoms persist.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Carbon dioxide water spray and dry powder.  Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a

fire, evolving noxious fumes (eg carbon, nitogen and phosphous oxides).  Product determined by test: N  Protective equipment: Full personal protective clothing and self-contained breathing

apparatus must be worn.

Products arising from combustion: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorous.

Fight the fire from a safe distance or protected location.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from immediate vicinity.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming to

the relevant national or international standards.  If the substance has adhered to people, wash the affect area

with plenty of water,

Avoid dust formation by dampening with water. Absorb

spillages of solutions  with a suitable inert material (eg.

sand or soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste

containers, or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine.

Containers filled with waste material must be labelled in

the same way as the original substance containers.

Clean the spillage area with water.

Dispose of waste material in accordance with local

regulations by incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid dust formation. Avoid ingestion and skin contact. Impermeable gloves, dust mask and full personal protective equipment should be worn.

The substance should be stored, handled and used under

conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with

any local regulations.

The substance should be handled in dry conditions and the

container should be kept closed when the substance is not in

use.

Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the

substance.

When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled

appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.  Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate

international or national standards as follows;  Chemical protective gloves to Standard EN374  Chemical protective clothing to Standard EN368  Eye protection to Standard EN166.

Furthermore, when respiratory protective equipment has to be

used, it must be capable of adequately controlling

exposure, be suitable for the purpose, and conform to the appropriate international or national standards, such as a

dust mask conforming to EN136.

These measures should be regarded as a minimum.  Storage: Store below 4 deg C in a dry and dark place    Keep containers upright and tightly closed in a cool location, and keep away from sunlight. Recommend storage at -18°C in long-term storage.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 1 kg or 5 kg containers made of high density polyethylene, the

containers shall be enclosed in aluminium pouches.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure limit values: Not available.

Exposure controls: Use with local exhaust ventilation and make available emergency shower and eye wash in the work area.

Occupational exposure controls: Provide adequate local exhaust ventilation to maintain worker exposure below exposure limits.

- Respiratory protection: As the need arises, use an effective gas espirator to an organic solvent.

- Eye protection: Wear safety glasses with side shields.

- Hand protection: Wear suitable gloves.

- Skin protection: Wear suitable protective clothing.

Environmental exposure controls: Maintain levels below Community nvironmental protection thresholds.

Stability and reactivity

Stability: Stable under normal storage and handling conditions. Recommend storage at -18°C in long-term storage.

Conditions to avoid: Heat, flame, other Sources of ignition, dusting.

Materials to avoid: Peroxides, metallic ions and oxidizing agents.

Hazardous decomposition products: Not available.

Hazardous Polymerization: Peroxides, metallic ions and oxidizing agents may initiate vigorous polymerization. Heat may initiate vigorous polymerization.

Chemical reaction with water: None which is hazardous.  Dust explosion: Under normal conditions of use this material does not

present a significant explosion hazard. However, like most organic compounds it is combustible and may form a dust

explosion if widely dispersed in air.  Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Dispose of in accordance with national regulations.

Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from

minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically

.

and such waste material will be disposed by incineration. In principle, it  may be possible to recover larger spillages of uncontaminated material for subsequent use.  Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The notification tests have shown that the substance is a skin sensitiser.   No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the hazardous health properties.   The dust hazard will be minimised by good industrial hygiene practise.  Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance will not be discharged directly to the sewage system or aqueous environment.  Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (eg carbon, nitogen and phosphous oxides) could be formed.  Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However, adverse effects  on sewage treatment systems would be unlikely.  No chemical treatment is practicable to neutralise the hazardous health properties.
