Additional information

"Sulfonation products of (esterification products of C9-11 (branched and linear) alkyl-(mono-, di- and tri-)glycosides with maleic anhydride) with dipotassium sulfite" does not resulted a dangerous substance for aquatic organisms in the short-term studies performed. The lowest eco-toxicity value, the EC50of 9.27 mg/L based on algal biomass, does not involve neither an acute hazard for the aquatic environment, nor a long-term risk, because of the rapid degradation of the substance and of its low bioaccumulation potential.

Conclusion on classification

The test substance "Sulfonation products of (esterification products of C9-11 (branched and linear) alkyl-(mono-, di- and tri-)glycosides with maleic anhydride) with dipotassium sulfite" does not meet the criteria for the environmental hazard classification under Regulation EC 1272/2008.

Although the read-across EC50 values resulted in toxicity studies to fish, daphnia and algae are < 100 mg/l, the substance is ready biodegradable and the logKow (determined by read-across) is < 4 (-2.8).
