Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
The data submitter has no data, even after literature search on the substance (R)-3 -amino-1 -butanol (S)-mandelic acid salt (CAS 1236049 -43 -6) to properly derive classification and labeling. Nevertheless, in order to address aquatic toxicity endpoints of the test item, reference to the racemic mixture of 3 -Amino-butan-1-ol (CAS 2867 -59 -6) was made for read-across purposes to the salt consitituents (3R)-3-Amino-1-butanol, (CAS 61477 -40 -5) and reference to (R) mandelic acid (CAS 611 -71 -2) was made for read-across purposes to the salt constituents (S) mandelic acid (CAS 17199 -29 -0).
For 3 -Amino-butan-1 -ol (CAS 2867 -59 -6) the following data on aquatic toxicity are available. A Limit-test on short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates reveals EC50>100 mg/L (BASF SE 2014, 50E0406/13X125). A screening test on toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria reveals an EC50>10 - < 100mg/L (BASF SE 2014, 86E0406/13G195). An a study on toxicity to microorganisms, which reveals an EC20 of 780mg/L (BASF SE 2014, 08G0406/13G073). For (R) mandelic acid (CAS 611 -71 -2) the following data are available. A test on short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates reveals EC50> 100 mg/L (BASF AG 2002, 02/0061/50/1). And a study on toxicity to microorganisms reveal EC20>1000mg/L (BASF AG 2002, 02/0061/08/1). Due to these available results the substance (R)-3 -amino-1 -butanol (S)-mandelic acid salt (CAS 1236049 -43 -6) is considered as acutely harmful to aquatic organims.Information on Registered Substances comes from registration dossiers which have been assigned a registration number.
