The long term toxicity of the test material to Daphnia magna was determined in a 21 day toxicity study performed in accordance with GLP and the standardised guideline FIFRA 72-4 Subdivision E. Daphnids were exposed to the test material over a range of concentration, 0.549, 1.23, 2.23, 4.74 and 9.53 mg/L, under flow-through conditions with a concurrent control used for comparison. Concentrations were analysed by HLPC.
Under the conditions of the test, there were no statistically significant effects (p = 0.05) on parental survival or growth at any treatment level, when compared to the control. There were statistically significant effects (p = 0.05) on the number of young per adult reproductive day (YAD) at concentration ≥ 1.23 mg/L, when compared to the control. The NOEC for parental survival and growth of the test material to Daphnia magna was determined to be 9.53 mg/L and the EC₅₀> 9.53 mg/L. The NOEC and LOEC for reproduction were determined to be 0.549 and 1.23 mg/L, respectively (all concentrations are representative of the active ingredient and corrected for sample purity). The study is considered to be reliable, relevant and adequate for risk assessment and classification and labelling purposes.
The study was performed in line with GLP and accepted standardised guidelines with a high standard of reporting. The study was assigned a reliability score of 1 and considered suitable for assessment as an accurate reflection of the test substance.
Reproduction was found to be the most sensitive endpoint and as such the NOEC for reproduction has been taken forward for risk assessment as the worst case scenario. The available data is considered to be complete and the result determined, 21 d NOEC value 0.549 mg/L, was taken forward.
