Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: If exposed to vapour, move to fresh air and seek medical

advice if signs of discomfort.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15

minutes.  Seek medical advice if signs of discomfort.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.  Remove contaminated clothing and

wash before re-use.  Seek medical advice if signs of

dicomfort.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Dring plenty of milk or water and seek medical advice if

signs of discomfort.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry chemical, carbon dioxide, foams and water spray.

Product arising from burning: Oxides of carbon, fluorine, soot. Fluorinated acids may be

formed in the presence of water.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Suitable for protection against halide gases and acids, to

include face mask, neoprene gloves, breathing aparatus and

coveralls.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Contain and collect the material and dispose of as chemical

waste in suitable labelled containers.  Personal protective

equipment should be used as recommended when handling the

substance.

The area can be washed with water, but care should be take

to avoid run-off into non-controlled drainage systems or

water courses.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance is unlikely to form dust and will be normally

in the form of a bulk solid, handled as a molten liquid and

temeperatures rarely in excess of 50 °C.  PPE should be

provided to prevent unnecessary contact with skin, eyes or

by inhalation.

Storage: Store dry under ambient conditions.  No special precautions.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Polythene lined 25 - 50 litre drums.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: None reported.

Dust explosion: The sample is not prepared as a powder and in view of the

low melting point is unlikely to have a high dust content.

For this reason, there is not considered to be a risk of a

dust explosion.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is consumed during use and cannot be recovered

for recycling.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not known

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Small quantities released to waste treatment systems should

not pose a risk, but more information is required before

significant discharge can be recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended for disposal

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Insufficient data to recommend.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Not other methods investigated.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable to the general public.
