Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water. If irritation
develops, seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash with soap and water. If
irritation develops, seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water mist, foam, carbon dioxide, and only dry powder may be
used.
Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon together
with water and some soot.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Protective clothing and a self-contained breathing apparatus
should be worn.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Ventilate area and remove all sources of ignition. Collect
spill keeping dust formation to a minimum. Tranfer to
suitable labelled containers and dispose of in accordance
with local regulations or recover the material with
crystallisation. Wash spill site with water.
Handling and storage
Handling: Avoid skin and eye contact and inhalation of dust. Do not
ingest. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling the
material.
Storage: Store indoors at constant temperature, if possible at around
15 C in dry, well ventilated conditions in sealed
containers. Keep away from sources of ignition.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The product will be packaged in open topped drums (plus
lid), lined with two sealed, polythene bag inners.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance may be recovered by recrystallisation (A623).
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None reported.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance can be disposed of at a landfill site (A650).
It should not be flushed to the drains.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method at a suitable facility.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will only enter the public domain in the form
of articles which can be disposed of as domestic waste.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Consumer products will only contain low levels of Pongamia
and should thus be suitable for disposal by landfill.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Depending on the nature of the consumer product incineration
is the recommended method of disposal for Pongamia.
