First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Give fresh air, rest in a half upright position. In serious

cases seek medical advice. Symptomatic medical treatment

advised.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water.

Emergency measure - Skin: Rinse with plenty of soap and water or shower.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse mouth, drink water. In case of spillage on clothes:

launder normally.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: The substance itself does not present a fire hazard. If

involved in a fire carbon dioxide, hydrogen chloride and

hydrogen bromide may be produced in which case

self-contained breathing apparatus should be used.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect as much as possible in a clean container for reuse

or disposal. Dispose according to local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The usual precautions for handling chemicals should be

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not practicable.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Due to the low solubility of the substance, any traces of

material entering the manufacturing site effluent system

would be removed by flocculation and sedimentation.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Solid waste should be incinerated in a high temperature

incinerator designed to accommodate highly halogenated

organic compounds. Waste gas treatment to remove hydrogen

chloride and bromide should be fitted.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
