Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

An acute daphnia study was performed under semi-static testing conditions in accordance with OECD TG 202. Groups of twenty daphnia (less than 24 hours old) were exposed for 48 hours to loading rates of 1.0, 0.50, 0.25, 0.125 and 0.065 test substance/mg/L (spacing factor 2) and a control. Due to poor water solubility water accommodated fractions were prepared at test start and each renewal. The initial concentrations and the maintenance of the exposure concentrations during the test were verified in the analytical part by measuring 2,2-dimethoxyethyl)benzene, which showed to be stable during the experiment. All reported results refer to nominal concentrations (loading rate) since a supersaturated stock solution via a water accommodated fraction was prepared. After 48 hours at 1 mg/l 55% of the Daphnia were immobilised, the extrapolated 48-hour EL50 value was determined to be > 1.0 mg test item/L, at which 50% of the Daphnia were immobilised with an extrapolated EL50 of 1.16 mg test item/L.
