Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting, seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Alcohol resistant foam (carbon dioxide or dry powder may be

used for small fires) should be used. Cool containers with

water spray.

Product arising from burning: Combustion products may contain carbon oxides, acrylic

vapours and silica.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: Hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDS) may be formed. Pure HMDS has a

boiling point of 101 deg C and a flash point of -2 deg C.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is only possible if the substance is

uncontaminated and no hydrolysis had taken place.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effect.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a controlled landfill site is possible, the

substance will slowly hydrolyse. (A650)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. Flue gas treatment to remove silica

should be used. (A661)

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended, However, acrylic acid polymers have been

use as coagulant aids for primary sewage treatment, removal

by the usual water treatment processess should, therefore,

be possible.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain. Paint

preparations, for public use, containing the substance may

be disposed of as domestic waste.
