Administrative data

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties
Justification for type of information:
- According to Bretherinck's Handbook of Reactive Chemical hazard (7th ed, volume 2, p. 159), Hexachloroethane CE is on the HALOALKANES group and shows that hexachloroethane does not have explosive hazards.

- Moreover Hexachloroethane is not classified as explosive since it does not contain any chemical groups associated with explosive properties listed in the guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria, section 2.1 Explosives and 2.1.4.2.Screening procedures and waiving of testing.

- Additionally, an expert statement was attached and a differential scanning calorimetry (dsc) of hexachloroethane was performed showing no exothermic reaction up to ca. 400°C
