Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Flush with water for at least 15 minutes, including under
eyelids. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with soap and water. If irritation
develops seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water spray, foam, carbon-dioxide or dry powder may be used.
Product arising from burning: Oxides of carbon, sulfur and nitrogen and some soot and
ammonia.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Full personal protective equipment and a self-contained
breathing apparatus must be worn.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1). Isolate
spillage. Take up spillage with suitable absorbent material
e.g. cloth, sand. Transfer to suitably labelled containers
and dispose of in accordance with local regulations. Wash
spill site with water. Measures should be taken to avoid
wet waste discharge to drains or surface water.
Handling and storage
Handling: The substance should be handled in a well ventilated area.
Gloves, goggles, overalls and a dust mask should be worn.
The usual precautions for handling of organic chemicals
should be observed.
Storage: Store in tightly sealed containers, in a cool dark place.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The preparation (ink) is contained in 80 - 330 ml
cartridges. Each cartridge is covered with plastic film and
a number of them are packed in a pasteboard box. Several
pasteboard boxes are shrink-wrapped together in plastic then
packed in corrugated cardboard.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: None reported.
Chemical reaction with water: None reported.
Dust explosion: There should be no possibility of dust generation or
explosion hazards. The preparation imported into the EU is
an aqueous solution contained within a cartridge.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for recycling is not feasible.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None reported.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method at a suitable facility. Waste gas
treatment to remove oxides of nitrogen and sulphur should be
fitted. (A661)
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not feasible.
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: The substance will only enter the public domain as a minor
component of ink cartridges which can be disposed of as
domestic waste.
