Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The flash point of the test substance = 111 ± 6°C.
Executive summary:

The flash point of the substance was tested under GLP in accordance with the standard ASTM D3828 for small-scale (Setaflash) closed-cup testing. After the test cup had stabilised at the test temperature, a small quantity of the test sample was introduced into the cup. The test flame was applied to the vapour space above the sample in the cup, which was observed for signs of a flash propagating throughout the interior of the cup. Testing commenced at 100 °C and the at 5 °C intervals up to 115 °C, and then at 1 °C intervals from 109 to 111 °C, using a fresh test sample in each case. The flash point of the test substance was determined to be 111 ± 6 °C.

Description of key information

Flash point = 111 °C (ASTM D3828, GLP)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flash point at 101 325 Pa:
111 °C

Additional information

The flammability of liquids is determined by the flash point. Liquid substances with a flash point of not more than 60 °C are classified as flammable according to section 2.6.1 of CLP Regulation (EC) 1272/2008. The substance is considered to be non-flammable based on the flash point of 111 °C and a classification is not warranted.
