First-aid measures

Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water, do not induce vomiting; get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Skin contact: Wash with plenty of soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. If symptoms occur, get medical attention. Wash clothing before reuse.

Eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Check for and remove any contact lenses. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Inhalation: Move any exposed person to fresh air at once. Keep warm and at rest. If there is respiratory distress give oxygen. If respiration stops or shows signs of failing, apply artificial respiration. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media (small and large fires)

Small Fire: foam, dry powder, CO2

Large Fire: foam, dry powder, CO2, water spray/fog

Do never use straight streams of water

Specific Hazards: Combustion generates toxic fumes.

Use flooding quantities of water to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Containers may explode in the heat of a fire. Apply water from as far a distance as possible. If safe firefighting is impossible: withdraw from area and let fire burn.

Protective equipment and advice for fire fighters: Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing. Clothing for fire-fighters (including helmets, protective boots and gloves) conforming to European standard EN will provide a basic level of protection for chemical incidents.

Accidental release measures

For non-emergency personnel: No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel from entering. Do not touch or walk through spilled material. Put on appropriate personal protective equipment.

Handling and storage

The substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates

Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.

Specifically, the substance is rigorously contained by technical means during its whole lifecycle; procedural and control technologies are used to minimize emissions and any resulting exposures; only properly trained and authorized personnel handle the substance; special procedures such as purging and washing are applied during cleaning and maintenance works, in cases of accident and where waste is generated, procedural and/or control technologies are used to minimize emissions and the resulting exposures; and substance-handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator
