Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Classification related key information

Biodegradation in water: Readily biodegradable

Bioaccumulation: Alcohol ethoxylates are not expected to bioaccumulate due to a rapid biotransformation and excretion.

Acute toxicity:

- aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48h): 40 mg/L (nominal, OECD 202)

- aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48h): 9.73 mg/L (AE specific QSAR)

- algae: ErC50 (72h) = 14 mg/L (geom. mean measured, OECD 201)

 Chronic toxicity:

- algae: ErC10 (72h) : 5.9 mg/L (geom. mean measured, OECD 201)

Classification justification according to CLP

Octan-1-ol, ethoxylated is rapidly biodegradable and has a low potential for bioaccumulate. All available acute and chronic aquatic toxicity effect concentrations are > 1 mg/L. Therefore, Octan-1-ol, ethoxylated does not need to be classified and labelled for environmental hazards according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and further amendments (ATPs).
