Additional information

A test of ready biodegradability (OECD 301F manometric respirometry test) on the registered substance tested at a concentration of 50 mg/L resulted in little degradation (4% after 28 days). It is possible that the rate of degradation is limited by bioavailability - the solubility of the substance. This is supported by data from testing in an enhanced test (OECD 301D closed bottle test) with a structural analogue of the registered substance, a trimellitate ester with linear C9 side chains which investigated lower concentrations - 2 mg/L. In this test significant (46%) degradation was observed, increasing to 71% when the test was prolonged to 60 days.
