Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The study was performed according to OECD TG 115 under GLP on the substance to be registered itself, validity criteria were met, the test procedure is well documented and therefore reliability of Klimisch 1 has been assigned. During the specified period of time, no significant changes in the surface tension were detected. Values ranging from 72.06 mN/m to 72.62 mN/m were recorded showing no significant variations. The values of the single determinations show no significant difference (0.35% between mean values of the two measurement series).
As the determined surface tension of 2-Butyne-1,4-diol, reaction products with 1,2-oxathiolane 2,2-dioxide and sodium hydroxide (HBOPS-Na) was higher than 60 mN/m, the test item can be classified as not surface active.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of 2-Butyne-1,4-diol, reaction products with 1,2-oxathiolane 2,2-dioxide and sodium hydroxide (HBOPS-Na) was determined as 72.16 ± 0.10 mN/m at 20.3 °C according to OECD 115 resp. EU A.5 under GLP. One measurement was performed for verification (after 60 minutes). No significant changes and thus no significant dependence on time was observed.

As these values were higher than 60 mN/m, 2-Butyne-1,4-diol, reaction products with 1,2-oxathiolane 2,2-dioxide and sodium hydroxide (HBOPS-Na) was classified as not surface active. The surface tension of the negative control lay within the accepted range.
