Description of key information

Hydrolysis as a Function of pH was assessed as a one of the physico-chemical properties of CDA-1 (ENVIGO, WC04JP, 2018).

The half-life at 25 °C of the test item was shown to be greater than 1 year at pH 4, pH 7 and pH 9, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method C.7 Abiotic Degradation, Hydrolysis as a Function of pH of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 111 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 13 April 2004. However, it was considered that degradation of the test item observed at pH 9 was not due to hydrolysis but may have been due to oxidation; although this wasn’t proven.

In the CDA-1: Assessment of Ready Biodegradability; CO2 Evolution Test (ENVIGO, MF19QL, 2018) the test item attained 62% biodegradation after 28 days and satisfied the 10-Day window validation criterion, whereby 60% biodegradation must be attained within 10 days of the biodegradation exceeding 10%. The test item can therefore be considered to be readily biodegradable under the strict terms and conditions of OECD Guideline No. 301B.

The determination of Adsorption Coefficient was carried out by the HPLC screening method, using a procedur designed to be compatible with Method C.19 Adsorption Coefficient of Commission

Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 121 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 22 January 2001.

The adsorption coefficient of the test item has been determined to be 11.0, log10 Koc of 1.04. The result classified the test item as having very high mobility.
