Description of key information

There are two study reports on biodegradability available for 1,3 -Propanediol, 2,2 -dimethyl-, 1,3 -diacetate. The study according to OECD TG 301F revealed a biodegradation of the test substance of 77.4% at the end of the 28-day period (BASF 2019). The ThOD removal rate was less than 60% during the 10-day window. Thus, the substance could be regarded as rapidly biodegradable but failing the OECD criteria for readily biodegradable. In the second study according to OECD TG 301B the biodegradability of the test substance was 84% after 28 days and the 10 -day window criterion was met (BASF 2018). Taking into account the stringent testing conditions of the OECD 301 test series, the test substance is considered to be readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria based on the outcome of both study reports.
