Description of key information

MTDID 47403 is hydrolytically active. Measured hydrolysis half-life values at 25 °C are <151 minutes at pH 4, 7 and 9. The hydrolysis products are a mixture of methyl and pentyl glutaconate diesters, dodecyl ethyl sulfide, and tetrafluoroboric acid (dissociates to tetrafluoroborate in aqueous solution). The glutaconate diesters are expected to be rapidly removed from aquatic systems, and dodecyl ethyl sulfide is expected not to be persistent. Bioconcentration data are not available for the hydrolysis products. Based on estimated log Kow values, dimethyl glutaconate and methyl pentyl glutaconate are expected not to bioaccumulate (modeled log Kow: 0.68 and 2.65, respectively), while dipentyl glutaconate (modeled log Kow, 4.61) and dodecyl ethyl sulfide (modeled log Kow, 6.81) may be bioaccumulative or possibly very bioaccumulative.
