Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

It was demonstrated that the organic peroxides in the Reaction mass rapidly hydrolyze (see 5.1.2) to Isopropanol (CAS 67 -63 -0) and Sec-butanol (CAS 78 -92 -2). The stabilizing agent (CAS 142 -22 -3) present in the test material does not show rapid hydrolysis.

Three acute studies are available.

It is likely that rapid degradation of the organic peroxides has taken place in the studies and that toxicity was caused by the stabilizing agent and/or degradation products. WAF solutions have been created therefore.

A Fish Embryo Test according to OECD 236, in simplified screening form, without chemical analysis. The 96h-EL50 is between 10 and 100 mg/L (loading rate).

An acute Daphnia study according to the basis of the OECD 202 guideline, without chemical analysis. The 48h-EL50 is 55 mg/L (loading rate).

A freshwater algae study was conducted according to the basis of the OECD 201 guideline, without chemical analysis. The test was performed with WAF solutions. The 72h-ErC50 is 8.2 mg/L (loading rate).

The stabilizing agent shows high toxicity to fish with an LC50 of 0.64 mg/L.

The hydrolysis byproducts have low predicted toxicty with all acute endpoints greater than 100 mg/L.
