Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Endpoint:
flammable gases
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid

Description of key information

The flammable gases study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid (study technically not feasible).

The flammable solids study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid (study technically not feasible).

The substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water (study scientifically not necessary).

The pyrophoric liquids study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied (study scientifically not necessary).

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Experience in production and handling shows that the liquid substance does not react with water. The liquid substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days).

As the substance is a liquid, it does not meet the CLP (EU 1272/2008 as amended) criteria for flammable gases or flammable solids. Based on experience in production, use and handling, the liquid substance does not meet the CLP (EU 1272/2008 as amended) criteria for self-reactive substances or pyrophoric liquids.

Furthermore, the flashpoint of 121 °C is far above the threshold for classification under CLP for flammable liquids and consequently the substance is not to be classified as flammable liquid according to CLP (EU 1272/2008).
