Description of key information

In a static immobilization GLP test (BASF SE, 1999) Daphnia magna (< 24 h old) were exposed to the test item for 48 hours according to the OECD 202. The 48h-EC50 was determined to be 12.0 mg/L (result based on measured concentration).

In a static immobilization GLP test (BASF SE, 1999) Daphnia magna (< 24 h old) were exposed to the test item for 48 hours according to the OECD 202. The Daphnia were exposed to a nominally range of concentrations of 0 (control), 1.56, 3.13, 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 mg/L. The nominal concentrations of the test substance were prepared by dilution of the eluate (100 mg/L) with M4 medium. Undissolved test substance was removed by centrifugation (approximately 20 min at about 17700 G). The concentration and control analyses were performed with test solutions of the following nominal concentrations of the test substance: 0 (control), 3.12, 25 and 100 mg/L. The analytical method used was the spectrophotometry. The concentration control analyses were performed with test solutions of the following nominal concentrations of the test substance: 0 (control), 6.25, 25 and 100 mg/L. The measured concentrations (mean value) were determined to be < 1, 1.2, 5.8 and 22 mg/L. The analytical recovery rate was determined to be in a range between 19.2 and 22 %. The effective concentrations mentioned in this report are based therefore on a median analytical recovery rate after 0 hours and 48 hours without daphnids (calculation factor: 0.239). An untreated control (M4 Medium without addition of the test item) and a toxic reference control with potassium dichromate were performed. The 24h-EC50 of potassium dichromate was determined to be 0.99 mg/L. The validity criteria were fulfilled. The 48h-EC50 was determined to be 12.0 mg/L (result based on measured concentration).
