Description of key information

The boiling point of the test item was determined to be 266.1 °C at 1013.25 hPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
266.1 °C

Additional information

Key study

The boiling point of the test item was assessed by dynamic method according to OECD guideline 103 and in compliance with GLP principles (BASF SE, 2015). In the temperature range used for normal boiling point measurements the test item was liquid. The data set used for the determination of the normal boiling point measurements consists of all temperature-pressure pairs of the vapour pressure determination which were determined with the dynamic method. The normal boiling temperature was obtained by extrapolation of the regression equation. In result, the boiling point of the test item was determined to be 266.1 °C at 1013.25 hPa.

Supporting study

In addition a literature review was conducted and the literature values were evaluated. The Yaw's Handbook of Physical Properties for Hydrocarbons and Chemicals as given in Knovel database (Knovel 2014a) and the Yaws' Critical Property Data for Chemical Engineers and Chemists as given in Knovel database (Knovel 2014b) consistently reports the boiling point to be 236.85 °C at 1013.25 hPa.

Based on the most current and reliable information (BASF SE, 2015), the boiling point of the test item is considered to be 266.1 °C at 1013.25 hPa. This result is supported by values from the literature (Knovel, 2014 a,b).
