Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Ready biodegradation resulting in biodegradation of ca 20% over 15 days, with no further degradation to day 28

Zahn-Wellens study failed to show significant biodegradation, but no evidence of toxicity

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
inherently biodegradable, not fulfilling specific criteria
Type of water:
freshwater

Additional information

There are limitations in the two test reports cited, but the laboratory work provides sufficient evidence that some biodegradation occurs. However, even with alternative methods, it is unlikely that the substance would be readily biodegradable and repeating the study was not considered at the time of testing.

It is likely that the substance will ultimately biodegrade. EPISuite evaluation suggests inherent biodegradation.
