An OECD 106 test was designed to evaluate the adsorption of the test item on different soil types. Aqueous solutions of the test item were equilibrated with different soil types and the adsorption coefficients and constants were determined. The concentration of the test item in the aqueous phase was determined using a test item specific LC-MS/MS method. The latter was laso used to verify stability of the test item during the incubation period, applying a suitable extraction method from soil.

The experiment for the determination of the adsorption kinetics was performed using 5 different soil types. In case of soil A and C the adsorption was below 10%; in case of soil B, D and E the adsorption value was in the range of 30% to 77%. Thus, only for these soils the obtained values are within the valid range as required by the guideline. In case of soil A and C the adsorption was low and thus these values were not considered for evaluation.

The calculated distribution coefficient was in the range of 1.1 L/kg in clay soil (LUFA 6S) to 8.7 L/kg in clay soil (Eurosol 1). The corresponding adsorption coefficient Koc range from 66 to 266 L/kg. Worst case value have been chosen as key value for chemical safety assessment (Koc=266 L/kg)
