Details on study design:
This method was based on the following conditions:
- test chemicals as sole organic carbon sources
- no pre-adaptation of micro-organisms to the test chemicals

The test was performed in a Voith Sapromat.
Tested chemicals were inoculated in the testing vessels with microorganisms. During the test
period, the Biochemical Oxygen Demand was measured continuousily by means of a BODmeter.
Biodegradability was calculated on the basis of the theoretical oxygen demand (ThOD)
or of the COD, if the ThOD could not be calculated.

Reference substance:
benzoic acid, sodium salt

Results and discussion

Preliminary study:
None
Test performance:
The test was considered valid because:
- the difference of extremes values of the removal of the test chemical at the plateau, at the end of the test or at the end of the 10-d. window was less than 20%. [ 10-d. window: the 10 days immediately following the attainment of 10% biodégradation.]
- the degradation of the reference substance at day 7: >/= 40%
- the degradation of the reference substance at day 14: >/= 65%
- the abiotic degradation of the steril control at day 28 was not: >10%

92 % after 7 days

97 % after 14 days

100% after 28 days

Abiotic control:

The abiotic degradation measured as BOD was: 4 % after 28 days

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Interpretation of results:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed
Conclusions:
On the basis of the present study the test substance FAT 92504/A was not biodegradable.
Executive summary:

The ready biodegradability of FAT 92504/A was determined in a 28 days Modified MITI (II) - Test according to the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No 302C (adopted 1981).

The test substance and the reference substance were tested in a concentration of about 47.10 mg ThOD/30 mg and 167 mg ThOD/100 mg, respectively.

Results:

Mean value of the biodegradation of FAT 92504/A after 28 days: 0 %

Biodegradation of the reference substance after 28 days: 100 %

The biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5) after 5 days was: 0 mg 02/g

Conclusion:

On the basis of the present study the test substance FAT 92504/A was not biodegradable.
