Skin
No irritating effect on rabbit skin was observed after 24/48/72 h (erythema/edema score) in an OECD 404 study with three rabbits. The test item does not meet the classification criteria according to the CLP Regulation. The structural analogue substance does not meet the classification criteria according to the CLP Regulation.
Eye
No significant signs of irritation occured in an OECD 405 with rabbits. All symptoms were fully reversible within 48 h (conjuctivae, chemosis). The structural analogue substance does not fulfil the criteria for classification according to the CLP Regulation.

Justification for classification or non-classification
The structural analogue substance showed no evidence for skin or eye irritating properties; hence,no classification is necessary. Due to the structural similarity, no irritating properties are expected for Acid Blue 281 either.
