Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2000
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study without detailed documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
0.8
Temp.:
40 °C
pH:
3
Details on results:
The reference log Pow value in the OECD-guideline presumably refer to 25 °C. The column temperature was 40 °C. However, the influence of this temperature difference on the calculated log Pow value lies within the range of the error of this method. In order to comply with the demand of EG-guideline 92/69, the non-ionic form of the test substance and considering environmental relevance, pH 3 was chosen as pH value for the buffer.
Conclusions:
According to EU method A.8 a partition coefficient (log Pow) of 0.8 was determined for Imidoxim.
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient was determined by using EU method A.8 (EG-guideline 92/69). In order to ensure a stable performance of the HPLC column, the column temperature was set to 40 °C.The reference log Pow values in the OECD-guideline presumably refer to 25 °C. However, the influence of this temperature difference on the calculated log Pow value lies within the range of the error of this method. In order to comply with the demand of EG-guideline 92/69, the nonionic form of the test substance and considering environmental relevance, pH3 was chosen as pH value for the buffer. The determined partition coefficient (log Pow) for Imidoxim is 0.8.

Description of key information
