Acute toxicity studies evaluating the toxicity of the substance to aquatic organisms are available for three different trophic levels. All studies were performed according to international guidelines and GLP. Fish (Danio rerio) turned out to be the most sensitive species with a LC50 (96 h) of 42.4 mg/L (nominal) followed by aquatic invertebrates (EC50 (48 h) 52 mg/L) and algae (ErC50 (72 h) 115 mg/L/ErC10 (72 h) 43.4 mg/L) and. The test substance did not cause inhibition of biodegradation in a study according to EU Method C.4-E with secondary effluent from a sewage treatment plant. Thus significant inhibition of the subsequent degradation process in sewage treatment plants is not expected. Based on the result of a toxicity control a NOEC (14 d) of ≥ 2.8 mg/L was derived.
