Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
19 October 2022 - 21 October 2022
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
The test methods described are designed to be compatible with the procedures indicated by the following internationally accepted guidelines and recommendations: • OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals • US EPA Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP) formerly the Office of Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances (OPPTS), Series 830: Product Properties Test Guidelines • Collaborative International Pesticides Analytical Council (CIPAC) Handbook L (2006)

Parameter:
kinematic viscosity (in mm²/s)
Value:
ca. 13.8
Conclusions:
The viscosity of Longifolene was measured at shear rates of 73 to 245 sec-1 at 20°C and 40°C.
The test item was found to be Newtonian in its flow behaviour. Under the specified test conditions, the measured dynamic viscosity was 13.0 mPa.s at 20ºC and 7.4 mPa.s at 40ºC. The kinematic viscosity was calculated as 13.8 mm2/s at 20ºC and 7.9 mm2/s at 40ºC.
Executive summary:

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the viscosity of the test item, Longifolene.

The study was designed in accordance with accepted principles in order to meet the requirements of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals and US EPA OCSPP Series 830 - Product Properties Test Guidelines.

Description of key information

Based on the CLP regulation as the Kinematic viscosity is less than 20.5mm2/s, Longifolene is classified as a category 1: Aspiration toxicity (H304: May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Viscosity:
7.9 mm²/s (static)
at the temperature of:
40 °C
