Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
no
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
other: substance melts and ignites emitting black smokes; noflame propagation to adjacent powder

The flammability test was negative.

Interpretation of results:
other: non flammable according to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008)
Conclusions:
The flammability test was negative; the substance is considered as non-flammable.
Executive summary:

Method

EU Method A.10.

Results

During the test, the substance melts and ignites; no flame propagation to adjacent powder is observed. Thus, test result is considered negative and the substance is classified as non-flammable.

Description of key information

Non flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The test was performed according to internationally accepted testing method A.10. Test item melts and catches fire, producing blak smoke. No propagation of flame to adjacent powder was noted.

Furthermore evidences connected to the long experience in handling of the substance confirms that no flammable properties have never been observed and reported up to now in the usual conditions of production, stock, transport and use.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008), 2.7 section, flammable solids, powdered, granular or pasty substances or mixtures shall be classified as readily combustible solids when the time of burning of one or more of the test runs, performed in accordance with the test method described in Part III, sub-section 33.2.1, of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, is less than 45 seconds or the rate of burning is more than 2.2 mm/s.

In the flammability test performed, the item did not propagate burning of a 200 mm length of the strip in less than four minutes, therefore the substance resulted non flammable.

In conclusion, according to the CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008) the substance is classified as non flammable.
