Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

log Kow (2,2,4,4,6,6-hexamethylcyclotrisilazane): not relevant (hydrolyses very rapidly in water)
log Kow (dimethylsilanediol): -0.38 at 20°C (measured)
log Kow (ammonia): not applicable (inorganic)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The requirement to conduct an n-octanol/water partition coefficient for the substance is waived because in contact with water, the substance hydrolyses very rapidly to form dimethylsilanediol and ammonia.

The log Kow of the silanol hydrolysis product, dimethylsilanediol was determined using a relevant test method to be -0.38 at 20°C .The result is considered to be reliable.

Log Kow is not applicable for the other hydrolysis product, ammonia, as it is inorganic. However, an indicative value of 0.23 has been predicted using the software KOWWIN (KOWWIN v1.68, US EPA, 2012). The value applies to non-ionised ammonia, NH3.
