The sample is placed in the cup of the apparatus and heated at a slow, uniform rate. A small test flame is directed into the cup at regular interval, and the flash point taken as the lowest temperature at which the application of the flame causes the vapour above the sample to ignite with a distinct flash inside the cup.

The test item spilled out from the sample cup, but neither there was any bursting sound heard nor any flame observed till the temperature reached 105 °С and temperature remained constant while temperature of oil bath reached up to 178 °С. The test spilled out from the sample cup, therefore no further heating was continue and the experiment was stopped.

Description of key information

The flash point of HGA Ca (1:1) L was determined by Pensky Martens Method similar to the EU test method A.9. The flash point of HGA Ca (1:1) L was not observed and the test item spilled out from the sample cup, temperature of sample cup become constant at 105°C while oil bath temperature reached up to 178°C at normal atmospheric pressure (i.e. 760 mm Hg).
