Description of key information

The lower explosive limit and upper explosive limit of the substance Hydrocarbons, C8-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%) have been determined by calculation as respectively 0.7 and 6.5 % v/v.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to REACH guidance R7a, the flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point), their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The flash point being higher than 23 °C but lower than 60°C (see section 4.11), this substance is considered as flammable (CLP Regulation CE 1272/2008).

The molecular structure of the constituents does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties and the experience in handling and use of this substance indicates that this is the case.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The flash point is > 23°C and <60°C. (see section 4.11).
