Water solubility

The water solubility of Thiosemicarbazide was found to be 13000 mg/L at 20°C indicating that the substance is very soluble in water.

Surface tension

The chemical 1-Amino-2-thiourea is an intermediate for pesticides, especially herbicides, and pharmaceuticals; used in certain photographic and dye applications and used as a reagent for the detection of metals. In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation this end point was considered for waiver and study not conducted since surface activity is not a desired property of the material considering the above mentioned applications.

Flammability

As per Sittig's hanbook of Pesticides & Agricultural chemicals, which is an authoritative data source, the NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency) rating for the chemical thiosemicarbazide for Flammability is flammability 1 suggesting that the chemical is not likely to be flammable under normal conditions of storage and use.

Explosiveness

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation this study was not conducted since there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule of the chemical thiosemicarbazide. Thus the chemical is not likely to exhibit explosive property and has been considered "Non-explosive" for the purpose of chemical safety assessment.

Oxidising properties

This end point was considered for waiver in accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation which mentions that the study need not be conducted if the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of the chemical structure. The chemical thiosemicarbazide is an organic substances not containing oxygen or halogen atoms and these elements are not chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen.

pH:

The pH of 13000 mg/L solution of thiosemicarbazide is found to be 5-7 at 20°C
