Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling point/boiling range)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
According to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals 103 the determination of the Normal Boiling Temperature of a substance can be
performed via vapour pressure measurement. Therefore it was tried to deduce the Normal Boiling Temperature from vapour pressure data
obtained by gas saturation according to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals 104.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
gas saturation according to OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals 104.

1431696-36-4
Molecular formula:
C14 H23 O3 N
IUPAC Name:
benzyltrimethylazanium 2-hydroxy-2-methylpropanoate

solid: compact
Details on test material:
Name of test material (as cited in study report): Benzenemethanaminium, N, N, N-trimethyl-,2-hydroxy-2- methylpropanoate ( 1: 1) - "BTMA-HIB"
Analytical purity: 95.8 g/1 OOg by 1H-NMR spectroscopy using the internal standard method, molar ratio of cation I anion = 50.5 : 49.5 by
evaluation of the identity via NMR spectrum (determined during the GLP-study No. 12L00135 from the Competence Center Analytics, BASF SE).
Lot/batch No.: VM2001/102
Expiration date of the lot/batch: January 2012
Storage condition of test material: room temperature, under nitrogen, protect from humidity

Results and discussion

Boiling point
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
> 160 °C

Any other information on results incl. tables

Non-GLP TG/DTA-measurement show, that at about 160°C the test item starts decomposition, so the normal boiling temperature cannot be determined.
