Target CAS no. 68391-31-1 – Basic brown 17: Summary

Short term toxicity to fish

Based on the QSAR prediction done using the EPI Suite ECOSAR version 1.10, the 96 hours LC50 was estimated to be 3346.149 mg/L on fish for substance Basic yellow 57 with mortality effects. Thus based on this value it can be concluded that the substance can be classified as non-hazardous as per the criteria of CLP regulation.

Short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

In a two different weight of evidence study:

1) Based on the QSAR prediction done using OECD QSAR toolbox version 3.3 for aquatic toxicity ofBasic yellow 57, the EC50 value for daphnia magna is estimated to 134.840209961 mg/l. Thus, based on the EC50 value, test substance can be classified as not hazardous as per the criteria of CLP regulation.

2) Based on the QSAR prediction done using the EPI Suite ECOSAR version 1.11, LC50 value was found to be 1707.377 mg/l on Daphnia Magna for substance Basic yellow 57 with immobilization effects. Thus based on this value it can be concluded that the substance can be classified as non-hazardous as per the criteria of CLP regulation.

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

In a two different weight of evidence study:

1) Based on the QSAR prediction done using OECD QSAR toolbox version 3.3 for aquatic toxicity ofBasic yellow 57, the EC50 value for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata is estimated to 278.584869385 mg/l. Thus, based on the EC50 value, test substance can be classified as not hazardous as per the criteria of CLP regulation.

2) Estimated 96 hr EC50 value of test substance Basic yellow 57on green algae was determined by using the EPI Suite ECOSAR version 1.11

Based on the growth rate of the test animal, the estimated 96 hr EC50 value was found to be 817.553 mg/l. Thus based on this value it can be concluded that the substance can be classified as non- hazardous as per the criteria of CLP regulation.

Thus based on the above results of various aquatic toxicity studies for target and its read across substances, it can be concluded that the substance Basic yellow 57 can be classified as non-hazardous as per the criteria of CLP regulation.
