reference to same study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Parameter:
other: Assessment based on chemical structure
Remarks on result:
other: Predicted negative

This substance is void of any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive properties

Interpretation of results:
non explosive
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
Based on the chemical structure of the test material the result for explosive properties has been predicted negative.

Description of key information

According to the provisions of EU A.14 method, the test substance was assessed by expert judgement as being void of any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Both calcium oxide and calcium carbonate have been assessed for chemical structures associated with explosive properties. In the absence of such structures it is concluded that all grades of calcium oxide may be considered to be not explosive, irrespective of calcium carbonate content.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the provisions of EU A.14 method, the test substance was assessed by expert judgement as being void of any chemical structures commonly associated with explosive properties. The structure of calcium carbonate was also assessed for chemical groups that would indicate explosive properties and was found to contain no such groups. On this basis all grades of calcium oxide may be considered to be not explosive, irrespective of the calcium carbonate content.
