Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The degradation of the test item was 80.7% within 28 days (after acidification).
The test item reached the criterion for ready biodegradability.
By the use of read across it can then also be determined that the 3-(p-tert-butylphenyl)-2-methylpropanol is also biodegradable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The degradation extent of the test item was 80.7% within 28 days after acidification (mean of three replicates, see table 1). For finding the exact position of the 10-d-window the degradation extents of the days without measurement were calculated by interpolation (see table 3). On day 15 the calculated mean degradation extent of the test item was for the first time higher than 10% (mean value: 13.7%, see table 3). Accordingly, the end of the 10-dwindow is on day 25. On day 21 the mean degradation extent of the test item already reached 60.5%. At the end of the 10-d-window (day 25) the degradation extents of the three replicates were between 63.2% and 78.4%. Therefore the test item reached the pass level for ready biodegradability (60% ThCO, and 10 d-window, see table 3 and fig. 1).
