Additional information

Methyl octanoate (CAS No. 111-11-5) is considered to be readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria (based on data from a suitable read-across substance in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5). Based on this information, methyl octanoate is expected to be rapidly biodegraded by microorganisms in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. Thus, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex IX, Column 2, 9.2.1.2, 9.2.1.3 and 9.2.1.4, further simulation testing on biodegradation of the substance in water, sediment and soil is not required.
