Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Testing has not been conducted to determine the environmental fate and behaviour properties of barium diboron tetraoxide. The substance is inorganic and therefore will not be biodegraded. As such, it was neither feasible or necessary to conduct screening or simulation tests for biodegradation.

Hydrolysis testing is not necessary as the ionic structure will dissociate into the Ba2+ ion and the metaborate-2 ion in water. There is no chemical reaction with water.

Bioaccumulation testing is waived as the substance has a very low log Kow (<1), and consequently is expected to have a low potential for bioaccumulation.

Similarly, testing for adsorption is waived based on the low log Kow (<1) and expected low potential for adsorption to organic carbon. This indicates that the substance will not partition strongly to sludge and will be mobile in soils.
