Description of key information

1,6-Hexanediol Diglycidylether (HDDGE) was evaluated for acute oral, dermal and inhalation toxicity by O.E.C.D. Testing Guideline studies conducted with GLP compliance. HDDGE was relatively non-toxic by all routes.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Acute toxicity: via oral route

Additional information

1,6-Hexanediol Diglycidylether (HDDGE) has an acute oral LD50 in the range of 2190 - 3740 mg/kg of body weight based on the findings from three independent studies conducted with rats. The rat acute 4 hr inhalation LC50 was greater than 35 mg/m3 (~ 3.7 ppm). The concentration of 35 mg/m3 was the maximal vapor concentration achieved and no moralities were observed. The rat acute dermal LD50 was greater than 2000 mg/kg of body weight. No mortalites or adverse clincial signs were observed that this Limit Dose level. Therefore, generally, 1,6-Hexanediol Diglycidylether is not acutely toxic.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on findings from acute toxicity studies conducted by the oral, dermal; and inhalations routes of exposure, 1,6-Hexanediol Diglycidylether dose not require Classsification and Labeling for acute adverse effects.
